Principal Designer & Creative Director
"Design is not about creating beauty. It's about creating spaces where people feel truly at home."
Henry Hu founded IAID to explore the intersection of design, craft, and production. With more than two decades of international experience, his work reflects a deep respect for material authenticity, cultural context, and the human experience of space.
Born in China and shaped by a global design perspective, Henry approaches each project as a dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression. His work seeks to balance architectural clarity with tactile richness and thoughtful detailing.
Today IAID operates internationally with studios in Los Angeles, Beijing, and Guangzhou, working across hospitality, residential, and private club environments. The studio’s practice integrates design, material research, and custom production to deliver spaces defined by precision, character, and lasting value.

Every project begins with material. We believe that stone, wood, metal, and textile have their own stories to tell. Our role is to listen and translate those stories into spaces that feel authentic and enduring.
Natural light is the most powerful design tool. We shape spaces to capture, filter, and celebrate light— creating environments that transform throughout the day and across seasons.
We work with artisans who have spent lifetimes perfecting their craft. This collaboration between contemporary design thinking and traditional technique produces work that is both innovative and timeless.
Ultimately, design serves people. We create spaces that support how people actually live, work, and gather— environments that feel intuitive, comfortable, and quietly luxurious.
